Activities

Uenopark
Uenopark

Ueno Park is one of Japan’s first designated parks. It was established by Cabinet decree in 1873 along with Shiba, Asakusa, Fukagawa, and Asukayama Parks.

This area was once the grounds of Toeizan Kaneiji Temple during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, the land became government property. It was eventually given to Tokyo City in 1924 by the Imperial Household Ministry.
At first the park consisted of the Kaneiji Temple main building and mausoleum, Toshogu Shrine, and the cherry trees within the temple ground. The museums, zoo, and art galleries built later transformed it into a park with a more cultural feel.

Ueno Ameyoko
Ueno Ameyoko

Ameyoko, originally short for Ameya Yokocho (candy shop alley), is always lively with vendors calling out to potential customers. Apart from grocers, there are countless shops that carry shoes, clothing, and even international knick-knacks. The liveliest time of the year is late December, when the alley attracts such a large crowd of New Year’s shoppers that it’s virtually impossible to move.

ImperialPalace
ImperialPalace

Tokyo Imperial Palace (literally, "Imperial Residence") is the main residence of the Emperor of Japan. It is a large park-like area located in the Chiyoda area of Tokyo close to Tokyo Station and contains several buildings including the main palace (宮殿 (Kyūden?), the private residences of the imperial family, an archive, museum and administrative offices.

It is built on the site of the old Edo castle. The total area including the gardens is 3.41 square kilometres (1.32 sq mi).

Akihabra
Akihabra

Akihabara, commonly known as Akiba, is well-known as a world-leading electronic district, and is centered around Chuo-dori street and Kanda Myojin-dori street. There are various establishments around the district, from large-scale stores with the latest electronic gadgets such as computers and smartphones, to electrical component shops. Akihabara is also known as a mecca for otakus with its collection of Japanese anime and comics, shops selling idol goods and maid cafés. Visiting anime or idol fans from around the world are fascinated by Akihabara’s charm. There are also new spots at the JR Akihabara Station underpass, which has undergone reconstruction. Kanda Myojin Shrine, which has a history of nearly 1,300 years, is just a short walk from the electronic district.

Kanda Myojin Shrine
Kanda Myojin Shrine

This shrine is the chief guardian god of Edo and was established in the second year of Tempo according to the old Japanese calendar that corresponds to 730 C.E on the modern calendar. People are very proud of Kanda Myojin Shrine's very long history over 1270 years. Kanda Myojin Shrine is very popular with the local people because they feel that if they worship here it will give them: happy family life, success and prosperity in their businesses, and will help them to find a well-matched marriage partner. Recently, because Kanda Myojin Shrine is not so far away from Akihabara, it has become the guardian of I.T data. People can get a lucky charm here called the "Protection and Safe keeper of I.T Data", which has become increasingly popular. Every year during the New Years celebrations, many of the engineers and people who run businesses from the area come to Kanda Myojin Shrine and buy this lucky charm.
